Ma arrivano i tempi dell’addio. Per Enea è ora di andare e, come da copione, prepara in segreto le sue vele, senza dire a Didone che vuole abbandonarla. Enea non dà spiegazioni. Didone è perduta. Entra in scena la sua disperazione. Sembra che le cose si siano messe definitivamente male per la nostra Didone, ma è proprio a questo punto che la storia fa una brusca giravolta.
